Thirteen Automobiles I Would Like To Drive (Regardless of Price, Gas Mileage, or any form of practicality)

2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser - I like the sporty look of it, and I'd also like to be doing exactly what the one above is doing. Thanks.

2008 Volkswagen Beetle - I always thought this would be a fun car to have.

2008 Jeep Wrangler Sahara - with some goodies added on like the one above.

2008 Mercedes SLK 55 - Probably my "dream" car. Wouldn't this one be fun?

2008 Mini Cooper S - This one has actually been under consideration due to gas prices.

2008 Smart ForTwo - I worry about safety, but toodling around in this would be fun. Imagine the ease of parking!

2008 Cadillac CTS - Always liked the aggressive stying of these.

2008 Nissan Altima Coupe - I love the way these look.

2008 GMC Sierra Z71 Pickup - This one's for Sammy!

2008 Honda Accord Coupe - Another 2-door I like the looks of.

2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe - This is a really fine, fine car. Wouldn't it make me look good!

2008 Volkswagen Tiguan - this new SUV looks pretty cool. I always like the Touareg, so this one is no different. The price is lower than the Touareg.

2008 Nissan Pathfinder - Another SUV I've always liked. I'd drive one for sure - lots of cargo room.

Thirteen Blatant Grammar Errors or Blatant Misspellings I've observed on the 'Net Lately

1. Plane when the person intended to say Plain.

2. Rod Iron. The stair rail, yes, it is made of what looks to be "rods." But it is wrought from iron.

3. Speaking about a vehicle, the Ford Expidition.

4. Descrimination for Discrimination.

5. PM's when the Private Message is not possessive, but plural. Should be: PMs.

6. Crape Myrtle for Crepe Myrtle.

7. Grammer instead of Grammar. See this one a lot!

8. Speaking of alot, that is not a word. A LOT is two words.

9. "I know for a fact that he seen the SUV..."

10. Using Opps when they meant to say Oops.

11. Couldn't of when they should say Couldn't have. See this all the time.

12. Definately for Definitely.

Thirteen Things That Are Green

~Happy Early St. Patrick's Day!~

1. Delicious, juicy pears.

2. Freshly cut grass in the spring (one of my favorite smells!).


3. The pen I use at work to sign off on bills and invoices.

4. My grandmother's Yellow-Naped Parrot, Elvis. He now lives with my aunt.

5. Pesto - one of my favorite pasta toppings.

7. Money (another obvious one), although it might be phasing out!

Thirteen Things I Wish I Could SPLURGE On Today

1. A new dining room table - There's one at Stacy Furniture I really like.

2. A big ol' T.V. - We are still not part of the "HD" generation, which I'm really o.k. with thus far. But really, our television is big enough and gives a good picture.

3. All new linens for my guest bedroom - One of my goals for this year is to make my guest bedroom livable.

4. A new vehicle - Everyone's probably got this on their splurge list!

5. A bunch of new spring clothes and shoes - I'm getting winter doldrums, and I'm ready for it to warm up a little.

6. A new dishwasher - Our dishwasher STINKS. It is the cheapest model the builder could possibly put in. It doesn't even have a rinse aid dispenser, if that tells you how crappy it is. However, it has worked well enough so far. Not really a necessity.

7. A big trip somewhere interesting - I'd love to go to New York, Washington D.C., and New England. Also really yearn to go to Montana again. And heck, I'd fly to Denver today just so I could eat at Sushi Den!

8. New bedroom furniture - Ours is getting a little tired and our style has changed somewhat. We'd also like to have a sleep number bed someday.

9. A digital SLR camera - They are quite expensive, but they take such vivid shots.

10. Another cruise - We loved our cruise and I definitely want to go on another someday.

11. Diamond stud earrings - Real ones. Good sized. I've always wanted some, maybe someday!

12. Wood floors throughout my house - Carpet's o.k., but sometimes I say scrap it and go with wood and a couple of nice rugs.

13. The top-of-the-line Apple computer and the largest monitor available - Being that I am an Apple junkie. Except then I'd have to buy a bigger desk, because the one I have now is laptop-sized. Consider that part of the splurge!

Thirteen Things Axel Has Done Lately to Achieve True "Bad Dog" Status I am 100% sure he is in his "adolescent" phase.  The book I read, "The Art Of Raising A Puppy," said that a certain age was their "adolescent phase" and they would essentially be holy terrors.  They would seem defiant, more aggressive, irritating, and not the sweet puppies they were a couple of months ago.  I think they were right.

1. Biting at hands - probably his worst habit.  I'm still not sure if there is a way to completely break him of it, or if we just need to wait for him to grow out of it.  We are trying really hard to put our hands away when we play.

2. Stealing napkins - you can't keep your napkin too close to the edge of the table or it will be gone.

3. Running from us - When we try to catch him with something he isn't supposed to have, he is one quick son-of-a-gun.  He plays chicken with us while attempting to eat whatever is in his mouth that shouldn't be.  I'm scared one day he'll get something bad, like a pin, and he'll have it down the hatch before we can even catch him.

4. Toilet paper - If you visit our house, the T.P. is sitting on the back of the toilet.  I assume you can deduce the rest of the reason why...

5. Getting in my closet - he goes in and roots around under all the clothes.  If he finds an interesting shoe, he will pull it out.  I can't count the number of times I've said "OUT!" while getting dressed.

6. Caps - he LOVES to grab Sammy's hat.  He hasn't ever actually snatched it off his head, but if Sammy lays it down anywhere within his reach, it is in his mouth within 1.2576 seconds.

7. Rats - He is able to find any and all dead, nasty, crunchy rat bodies on walks.  We won't even see it until he has it firmly in his jaws.  And we mean FIRMLY.  When Puppy Dude thinks he has a kill, you almost can't pry it out.

8. Jumping up on the counters - He obviously isn't tall enough to reach the counter, but he jumps and puts his feet on the fronts.  I keep thinking he is going to get it all scratched up, but so far he hasn't.  I have got to figure out how to keep all 4 feet on the ground.

9. Wanting to go out constantly - He will want out often when there is no reason and will then go out without doing any business.  He also thinks that when we're eating, we would just LOVE to get up from our food and let him outside.  We have decided that no matter what, we are not getting up to let him out while we eat.  He's just going to have to learn patience.

10. Magazines - He loves to steal a magazine.  Usually we can get it away before the shred-fest begins, but not always.

11. Socks - Don't leave them laying around.  If he goes in Sammy's closet where the dirty clothes are, they are fair game.

12. Jumping on the couch and you - When playing or excited, he will run full speed and bounce off of either you or the back of the couch.  I just know he's going to poke a hole in the leather someday.  Or poke a hole in my chest.  He just gets SO excited sometimes and has a TON of energy.

13. Lying on the bed, specifically on your pillow - He does not sleep with us, but he is allowed on the bed to rest while we get ready in the morning.  He is allowed expressly for the reason that we are completely unable to keep him off the bed.  I'm working on that, too.  When he is on the bed, though, if you don't have the pillows well covered, he will dig the blanket back until he can lie directly on your pillow.  NOT okay.

Cowabunga!  This is my 100th post!  Well, isn't that special.

  Thirteen Dog Breeds I Like

1. The Yorkshire Terrier - I mostly like this one for its fru-fru looks.  They can be so cute!
2. The Miniature Pinscher - of course!  I like their spunk, energy, and intelligence.  They make great dogs.

3. The German Shorthaired Pointer - a neat dog with great looks.

4. The Golden Retriever - I grew up with goldens, and they are superb.

5. The Affenpinscher - The name means "monkey-like terrier" and they are nicknamed the monkey dog.  They seem like tough little dogs.

6. The Border Terrier - Another wiry little cute guy.

7. The Doberman Pinscher - One of the best dogs I ever knew was a doberman.  They have such good looks, too.

8. The Italian Greyhound - I love these little dogs.  I understand they make great companions.

9. The Weimaraner - I think these are amazing looking dogs.  I love their coloring.

10. The Alaskan Malamute - Neat, neat dogs.  These dogs are so pretty, but are workhorses.  They are bred to work and pull sleds.

11. The Standard Poodle - Althought I do not like the fru-fru haircut, these dogs are at the top for intelligence.

12. The Scottish Terrier - Another dog that appears small, but is very strong.

13. The Boxer - I think these are great looking dogs and are such cute puppies.

Thirteen Things I am Looking Forward to in Fall and Winter

1. Being able to wear jeans and not sweat my buns off. I do love a great pair of jeans and love to look great in them. But when it's 138 degrees outside, there's just no way.

2. Thanksgiving. Fall is absolutely, positively my favorite season. The thought of turkey and dressing gets my mouth watering just thinking about it.

3. Getting to decorate my house in fall decor. Did I mention that I love fall?

4. Along the lines of number 3, getting to decorate for Christmas. This might be a challenge this year! With our new couch, the place I put my tree for the last two years is no longer. I'm going to have to be creative.

5. Football games. Being able to sit at home on a Saturday afternoon with the air crisp and clear while enjoying some gridiron goodness is so great to me.

6. Eating some warm and cozy food. Winter is the time for stews, chili, and other crock-pot wonders. I'm going to be sure my meal-planning is really on par this season.

7. Working on my Christmas gift making. I solemnly swear that I will not make myself nuts over gifts this year. I want Christmas to be enjoyable. I do not enjoy what some like to call the "hustle and bustle" of the holiday season. I don't like long lines, parking nightmares, fretting over what to get, where to get it, and how much to spend. I am going to do the same or nearly the same thing for everyone and I'm going to try and make most of them. I am going to go simple.

8. Getting serious about reading. I need a reading makeover. I'm in a reading funk. Help! I need to read something interesting and entertaining. While I like what I'm reading, I want a good non-fiction tale.

9. All new T.V. I'm looking forward to Heroes, The Office, and ER. However, a disclaimer: I will not let television overrun me this year! I will delete the unnecessary and will not get into too many new things.

10. Ski time is approaching rapidly. This is our big vacation of the year. It is our favorite activity and we wait longingly for it all year. This time it's going to be Vail, Colorado and we can't stand the suspense.

11. Wearing some great winter clothes. My winter wardrobe needs a serious makeover and I can only hope I have a few extra dimes to revamp it. I need some new sweaters, some new jeans, and some new casual clothes for winter. I'd also LOVE a new coat. Heck, just give me a new everything. That would do it.

12. Christmas music. I LOVE Christmas music. I got some great ones last year from some of my favorite Christian artists and they quickly became my all-time favorites. Non-traditional sounding Christmas music has rapidly become what I love the most. I like it to rock.

13. Warm and cozy Saturday mornings. I get to break out my warmer robe for my Saturday morning relax sessions. I like to wake up to a warm cup of coffee and my cozy soft robe.

Thirteen Things I Love About Summertime

1. Texas Peaches - First, they taste so good.  Second, I love being able to support local farms that produce such an amazing product.

2. Highlighting my hair - My summertime ritual.  I love to lighten it up and make it look fresh in the summer.

3. The West Texas Heat - Yes, there are actually times I can go outside, stand around, and say "aah."  While I don't live in West Texas, I do still go there to visit my parents and soak up that dry heat from the sun.

4. Pecos Cantaloupe - When I was a kid, I hated cantaloupe.  Now, I can't believe I ever disliked it.  A great Pecos Cantaloupe or one from a local farm near where I grew up can be right up there with chocolate on the scale of good to great.

5. Wearing sandals - I have said before that I love being barefoot.  While barefoot is not o.k. everywhere, sandals are the next best thing and I love them.

6. Flowers - They are everywhere in the summer and I do enjoy them so much.

7. Iced tea with lime - Nothing says summer like a big glass of iced tea with some lime in it.

8. Going swimming - It is relaxing, gives me a nice glowing tan, and cools you off on those unbearably hot days.

9. The long evenings - I, personally, am a lover of the daylight savings time.  I love being able to stay outside later and have more daylight coming in the windows.

10. Fresh produce - Right along the lines of the cantaloupe and the peaches, there is so much wonderful fresh produce to be had in the summer.  Okra (boil, salt and eat - yum!), yellow squash, tomatoes, and so much more.

11. Summer fashion - I love summer clothes so much more than winter clothes.  The color palette is fresher and there are so many more styles and options.  In addition, I love to wear white (skirts, pants, dresses), so I am definitely a summer girl when it comes to clothes.

12. Birthdays - O.k., I have to love summer because my birthday is in July.  However, I hated having a summer b-day when I was in school because I could never celebrate my birthday at school like almost everyone else.

13. Being Outside - Whether it's in the evening lounging around or taking a walk with the dog, I love being able to be outside.

Thirteen Things I Loved Growing Up (toys, trends, and other items)

1. Rainbow Brite - I had the doll, the horse, the books, dishes, and even a Christmas ornament.

2. My Little Ponies - I must have had 50.  I remember enjoying lining them all up on my hope chest in my room and brushing all their hair.  They even had clothes, houses, and human friends.  They still make them, but not to the magnitude they did then.

3. The "Tee Tie" - Remember these?  Take the corner of your t-shirt and thread it through a buckle-like do-dad.   Looking back, I can't believe I was sucked into this kind of fashion disaster.  I'm surprised I was able to recover.  How many times did I wear one of these with my Paula Abdul tee?  ***shudder***  I couldn't even find a picture of one with Google - that tells ya how awful this one was.

4. New Kids On The Block - Hey, now.  This was the original boy band.  Again, I had books, cassette tapes (I know, WOW.), a sleeping bag, t-shirts, and so many other things.  I wore out that ol' pink jam box listenin' to "Hangin' Tough."

5. She-Ra - I loved She-Ra so much I even dressed up in her likeness for Halloween.  You could buy this kit with a plastic face mask, sword, and whatever else.  Mom made the rest of the costume.  That was the height of awesome, I tell you.

6. Strawberry Shortcake - I heard she's making a come back.  I also was Strawberry Shortcake for Halloween once.  Red yarn wig, the whole outfit identical to the real thing, and big red cheeks painted on my face.

7. Rose Petal Place - not as popular, but another of my favorites.  Rose Petal lived in a pink watering can in a town with all her flower friends.  The arch-nemesis was "Nastina" a big ugly black and purple spider.  Right up my alley with all the ruffles, pink, and feminine details!

8. Cabbage Patch Kids - I truly wish I had one that I never played with.  I was the perfect age in the exact time frame when these came out and were all the rage.  I had one, but it was well played with.  My sister-in-law has one still in the box.

9. The Slap Bracelet - These were so awesome.  Now, not so much.

10. The View Master - I remember "watching" E.T., She-Ra, Sesame Street, and others on my View Master.

11. My First Barbie - Almost forgot this one!  A precursor to a HUGE collection over the years.  I remember exactly what the "My First Barbie" was wearing, but, alas, I couldn't find a picture with Google.

12. The Hypercolor T-Shirt - This tie-dyed tee would change color with body heat.  Totally amazing dude!

13. The Berenstain Bears - I read these books over and over and over.  They were such good little books and probably taught me some great lessons.
