Fashion Love! Edition: I'm not an Amazon Woman.

If you know me, you know I love fashion.  All of it.  The shoes, the clothes, the works.  This facet of my interests does bleed over into the blog world.  I read every edition of Fashion Friday on the Big Mama blog.  Love it!

I have also found a couple of other fashion-centered blogs that I have really begun to enjoy.  I wait every day to see what Kendi will be wearing.  It's especially fascinating when she completes a 30 for 30.

The other fashion blog I have just started to follow is called Extra Petite.  While I am not quite as petite as this young lady, I do identify, and really enjoy the outfits she features.

It can be hard to find quality, appropriate, and fashion-forward clothes for shorter, smaller women.  If I had back all the money I've spent over the years on pant hems at the alteration shop... Or, if I had a dime for every time someone said, "With how little you are, you can probably wear anything."  Not always true!  For example, all the maxi dresses out there are made for Amazon Women.  Looking around me at the stores I frequent, I do not see many 6-foot tall women, so I don't comprehend this.  However, I finally found one (at a great price, by the way) at the Ann Taylor Outlet - I was thrilled.  It fit perfectly and as an extra bonus, you can wear it with a regular bra.  This particular dress is the one, photo courtesy of reallypetite.com (since the dress is not available online).

Hmm... come to think of it, I might have another fashion blog to follow... reallypetite.com is looking pretty interesting after happening upon it while trying to locate the maxi dress photo!

Still Here... Looking Back... and a Recipe!

I am embarrassed how long it has been since I posted on my blog.  Yikes.  So, I'll just get right to it.  I was parusing back a few months in my posts and found the following observations:

• My workout iPod playlist sure has evolved. I think it has changed tenfold since this posting.
• I got a really good laugh finding this video I posted.  Still hilarious!
• I have read a few books since my last posting, and I have still been on my World War II kick.  I have read "Ghost Soldiers", now own and will read "The Great Raid on Cabanatuan", and also was given "The Good War," a Pulitzer Prize winning World War II novel.
• My ability to stick to goals is lacking this year.  Apparently, I set this goal sometime ago, and no, I have not finished entering all my recipes in my Recipe Manager program!  I also have not done anything else with my wedding keepsake album.  Bad, bad.  I'm annoyed.

I always enjoy sharing a good, easy and healthy recipe, too, so here's one you may enjoy:

Adobo-Lime Chicken Tacos

• 2 cups skinless, boneless roasted chicken breast, shredded (I shredded a store-bought rotisserie chicken for this)
• 3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro, divided
• 2 tablespoons light sour cream
• 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
• 1 tablespoon chipotle chiles in adobo sauce
• 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
• 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
• 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
• 1 cup packaged broccoli slaw mix
• 1 tablespoon seasoned rice vinegar
• 2 radishes, sliced thin (did not use)
• 8 taco shells (used soft corn tortillas instead)
• 1/2 cup salsa verde (the brand Herdez is great)

1. Toss chicken with 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro and the next 6 ingredients (through black pepper) in a medium bowl.

2. Toss slaw mix with rice vinegar, radish, and remaining 1 tablespoon cilantro. Divide chicken and slaw evenly among taco shells. Serve with salsa.

As you can see, I like change.  I suppose that's a good thing!  The blog address remains the same, but I invented the name "Four.Twenty.Eight" a while back and it really appeals to me.  I'll hang onto it until I feel like change again.
